Patrick and I visited Washington, D.C., so that he could check out Catholic University of America, as he looks at colleges. We began with a tour of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception near the CUA campus. |

After a tour of the library and some of the other campus buildings and the bookstore, we headed to some of the neighboring highlights, such as the Newman bookstore, and Colonel Brooks Tavern, where I worked at various jobs for a few years in the early 80s. |
|
Later on Monday we headed to the Mall and visited the National Museum of American History. Tons of stuff, and the two hours we spent there weren't nearly enough. |
|
We importuned a friendly passerby to snap this photo of us in front of the Washington Monument. |

Finally, feeling in need of some refereshment, we stopped at this diner on Connecticut Avenue on our way out to visit my former college roommate Gary and his family. |
